Edwin Maxwell has been a barber for 48 years. When his mother asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, Edwin was sure: he wanted to be a barber.
On his eighth birthday, he asked for a Clippers set so he could “give the dog a haircut.” When he was 16, he asked to go to vocational school and start his barber career. “The guidance counselor told me it wasn’t available, but I told him I would apprenticed to someone.”
One month later, he found someone to take him under his wing, and he was in the family already! “My uncle Zachary thought it was an unusual request, but he took me up on it, and he never regretted it.”
Edwin has no plans for retirement.
